The Homestead Estate
We love the area and are keen to showcase its attractions - gourmet food, wine and the most spectacular scenery.
Micheal Freudenstein and Noela Dawes bought the 1869 Homestead in 2000 and planted an olive grove of 1000 trees. The first grapes were planted in 2003 and Micheal makes a variety of wines from fruit hand-picked on the property and other vineyards in the Alpine Valleys. Quality is a major focus, both in fruit selection and winemaking, utilising traditional winemaking techniques (small open fermenters, hand plunging & limited additives) and only the best French oak barrels.
Sangiovese, Savagnin, Shiraz, Sparkling White (Methode Traditionale), Chardonnay, Port are available as well as red wine vinegar, verjuice, dukkah, feijoa and sangiovese jellies and extra virgin olive oil.
Tastings & sales of all products are available at The Alpine Wine Shop in Myrtleford 7 days a week. Tastings and tours of the historic homestead are available by appointment, phone 0488258997.
